Orientation Night

Sissy left for Dallas this afternoon, so I went to Orientation Night on my own. Orientation Night is when all the clubs on campus set up booths in order to recruit new members. It was a little scary walking there because it was so dark, but I had a flashlight and knife in my purse, so I wasn't too worried. I got to the gym and it was a mad house! There were so many people and so many little booths, it was crazy! I wandered here and there, looking at all the different booths. There was a swim club, drama club, fine arts club, and then I hit the Bible Belt! It was crazy, there were like a BILLION different religiously affiliated clubs, and they were all in the same area of the gym. It was kinda crazy. I meandered around some more, not knowing anyone and feeling super awkward, until I found my friend, Micah! I was very glad to see a familiar face. His girlfriend was working the Social Dance Group, which was the only club that I signed up for. I'm pretty excited about this club, our first meeting is going to be this coming tuesday, and I believe we are scheduled to learn how to Salsa!! Yay!!!! I haven't danced for awhile, so this should be very interesting! : )

P.S. Doesn't the sky look amazing in that pic? Nevermind all the cars and the building, I just dig the sky!

School Work

Sorry for the sporadic posts, but I've had sporadic internet access because someone in Building 6 has decided to set up their own wireless router. Which is incredibly rude to the rest of us, cause it completely ruins our internet fun!

Anyways, I've started school this past Monday, and MAN I've got sooo much homework to do already! It's a bit overwhelming, but I'll manage. It's just hard to go from doing zero work and getting good grades at Quad C, to having to do all this hard work all at once!! But all my subjects (except for math) are really interesting and all my teachers are really smart and helpful! I just really need to buckle down and put my nose to the textbook grindstone. Please say an extra prayer for my and my sister, if you can!

On a more domestic note, I've rearranged my room with the decorative help of Sissy and I like it better than it was before. It feels a little more homey, but I need to get some pics of family and friends up here quick, cause its so impersonal in that respect. I wish I could have my twin mattress from home though, because it's waayyyy better than the one provided here. This one is ruining my back I'm pretty sure. Dr. Jones is definitely going to have to fix me up!

I really miss my family, friends, and animals. But I'll be very glad to see my folks when they come to visit me this weekend!!

I've said enough now, I've got to get ready for class now. Goodbye for now.

P.S. I love my camera! Thanks, Daddy! : )

Start of the Blog

Hello all! (and by all, I pretty much just mean, Hi Mom and Dad!) : )

This is the start of my blog chronicling (sp?) my time spent at TAMUG!

It's a little late, since I've lived here about a week now, but hey, its like they say, "Better Late Than Never!"

So today, my sister, Aaron and I went to the beach! It was pretty fun, except for all the yicky seaweed that makes me cringe when it makes contact with my skin. I always tell myself not to yelp, but its something that cannot be helped. It must be a reflex or some such nonsense. After we cleaned up from our time at the beach, we met up with Mike and Cheryl for dinner. We ate at this place called "Wild Wings", and the food and music were really good! I also got a free drink out of the manager, Will. That's always a plus! : ) The music was a crazy montage of 80s Classics, which is always a delight to hear. The food was really tasty and incredibly spicy!! My mouth was on FIRE! Cheryl was befuddled by my lack of tolerance for the heat however, and asked me "But aren't you Indian?" I had to remind her that indeed I am, but that there must have been some sort of crazy voo doo spice in my wrap which was causing even my lips to tingle with the heat!

Now, I am back in my apartment, listening to Aaron ramble on about something in my sister's room across the way, while I am missing my cats and my folks quite terribly. Oh and I'm also missing my queen sized, pillow topped bed most ardently! This little dinky twin mattress here is just not cutting it, I say!

Anyways, other than that, things are going really well here, and the start of classes is ever growing near.

I'm going to sleep now, since I've got church in the morning, and nothing I'm typing is really making any sort of sense.

G'nite and Sweet Dreams!
